Our Bed & Breakfast is located near the small village of Gattaia (not far from Vicchio), in the green and beautiful countryside of the Mugello area. The natural environment here is wild and harmonious, with a dense network of hiking trails. You can easily visit many interesting castles, museums, villas and ancient residences of the powerful Medici family. The local cuisine is excellent – another factor that makes this area an ideal destination for your holidays.
Our house is set on a hill in a splendid panoramic position from which you can see the distant towns of Caselle, Molezzano and Vicchio miles down the valley. This area is a game reserve and you may often see young roe deer and foxes in the spring and summer, as well as a great variety of birds.
Antonella and Alessandro have been living here now for several years. In 2007 they decided to undertake this very special work, since they enjoy meeting people and extending their traditional Tuscan hospitality.
It is their pleasure to offer guests a rich breakfast made with typical local products. This is served in the garden during the spring and summer, and in the living room during winter mornings. In the evening you can have dinner with them, enjoying typical Tuscan and Mugello recipes, drinking excellent local wines, or you can prepare your own food for your walks in the many woods around the house.
It is without doubt an ideal place for those who want to pass a quiet and relaxing holiday, in contact with nature in an environment still wonderfully unspoiled.
The region called the “Mugello” in Tuscany is not far from Florence. It is area of beautiful scenery comprised of valleys, rolling hills, high peaks and Tuscan cypress. From here you can take enchanting trips to discover ancient churches, castles, convents, museums and places of the Medici’s family.
Our house is an excellent starting point for visiting places of cultural and scenic interest, for example the towns of Vicchio, Borgo San Lorenzo, Scarperia, Barberino, San Piero a Sieve and Marradi. You can even book visits to typical Tuscan farms and sample the local wines, oils and other products.
For lovers of water sports there is Bilancino’s lake, located near the town of Barberino, where you can swim, canoe, sail and windsurf.
The beautiful and historic city of Florence is easily reachable by car or train in less than an hour. There you can take a fascinating stroll through the city center with its narrow and ancient streets, while discovering the many interesting buildings, monuments and works of art!
FROM THE SOUTH: you can reach B&B Mugello by taking the A1 motorway. Take the Valdarno exit and follow the indications to Pontassieve, Rufina and Dicomano. At Dicomano, turn left and follow signs to Borgo San Lorenzo. Before you reach Borgo San Lorenzo turn right and follow road signs to GATTAIA / Bed and Breakfast MUGELLO. Follow this road for about 8km.
FROM THE CENTER AND NORTH: take the A1 motorway and leave it at Barberino. Follow the signs to Borgo San Lorenzo and go through this village. Continue straight on until Vicchio. At Vicchio turn left and follow road signs to GATTAIA / Bed and Breakfast MUGELLO for about 8 km. |
