The "Landgasthof Tönnes" was founded in 1875 and has been under family management for four generations now.
Niedergaul had gastronomy over 150 years ago. Balls were organised regularly in the "Spiritus" Inn and the men from the Wippenfürth "Outskirts" convened there for the first democratic election in 1848. The "Dollmann" Inn was then added, its main attraction being its open-air bowling alley.
The "Landgasthof Tönnes" was founded in 1875 and has been under family management for four generations. For a long time it also incorporated a farmstead, an agricultural store and a haulage business. The small residence was extended and storeys were added around 1920.
One of the Pasbach Pools was converted into the Wipperfürth outdoor swimming baths some time later. As the entrance was right next to the beer garden, the inn was now called the "The Restaurant at the Swimming Baths".
Jürgen Tönnes began reconstructing his parents' residence in 1998 and the opening of the "Landgasthof Tönnes" could be celebrated in the same year. The landlord is especially grateful to the loyalty of his regular guests who remained undaunted by the dust and noise during reconstruction work.
